The fourth in my "Mark Twain Mystery" series, THE GUILTY ABROAD, will be arriving in stores the second week in September, 1999. This one sends Mark Twain and his family to London -- I hope historical fans will enjoy the trip!

After a six year span between books, I'm delighted to share some good news. St. Martin's will publish my new mystery, ANGEL AT TROUBLESOME CREEK, in hardcover this Nov. This will be the first in a series featuring Augusta Goodnight, guardian angel "temp," whose last assignment was in the 40's. Dressed in clothing of that decade, and believing that many things are still being rationed, Augusta appears, complete with jaunty hat and large handbag, on Mary George Murphy's attic stairs in Troublesome Creek, NC. In this whimsical mystery, Augusta helps to clear up the secret behind Aunt Caroline's suspicious death and supplies a bit of heavenly guidance to Mary George in her personal life as well.

I have just finished AN ANGEL TO DIE FOR, the second in the series, and my YA novel, AUNT MATILDA'S GHOST, will be reprinted by Silver Dagger in March of 2000.

This is an exciting season for my husband Gene and me as we will be building a new home here in Fort Mill, S.C. after almost 30 years in our old one. The last week in August we'll be renting a beach house at Wild Dune, off the coast of Charleston, with our two daughters, their husbands, and our FIVE grandchildren all under four years of age!
