Cuba Gooding Jr. is ending his 22-year marriage to Sara Kapfer. The star of both “The People v. O.J. Simpson and “Jerry McGuire,” has filed to put an end to his Hollywood marriage. Twenty-two years of marriage is practically unheard of in Hollywood, especially when the married couple were once high school sweethearts.
Court documents state that he is asking for joint custody of their 10-yer old daughter and wants to give Sara spousal support. The reason for the divorce is due to irreconcilable differences.
The two were married on March 13, 1994 and Sara filed for a legal separation from Cuba during August 2014.
The Goodings have always managed to keep their lives private from the public. Although they are legally separated, they were recently seen together at a Beverly Hilton Hotel party after the Golden Globes.
Because of how he lovingly talks about his wife, some may be amazed that the couple is going through a divorce. During an appearance on the View, Cuba spoke in a positive manner about his wife. He talked about how there are ups and downs and that his wife was his high school sweetheart. He also stated that things don’t always go well in the relationship, but he and his wife are still together. Cuba says that he is a lucky guy.
But some might wonder why the couple is stilled married if Sara filed for a legal separation in 2014. Cuba Gooding Jr. tried to answer this question during his appearance on The Steve Harvey Show. He says “Officially I’m still married; it’s just you know how some marriages go. Sometimes you take a break or two. All I’m saying is my life is what it is right now.”
Although the couple is filing for divorce, Cuba Gooding Jr. and his wife went to a movie recently. He says they have kids and should keep their relationship going.
