As expected, the 18 year old only daughter of late Michael Jackson’s three children, Paris Jackson is now an official high-fashion model upon signing a contract with the top agency IMG Models.
While the group revealed this on Thursday, Paris thanked @imgmodels on Instagram and said she felt lucky and blessed. IMG Models also handles celebrities like Bella and Gigi Hadid, Gisele Bundchen, Candice Swanepoel, Alessandra Ambrosio, Hailey Baldwin, Lily Aldridge, Nina Agdal, Karlie Kloss and Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber and Christie Brinkley’s daughter Sailor Brinkley Cook.
Paris had recently tried out modeling and her first cover was for Rolling Stone. So everyone had been anticipating this decision as she had extraordinary looks with intense light ocean blue eyes.
Michael Jackson used to have his kids wear veils over their faces while in public to protect them from the paparazzi and to prevent being recognized until his death in 2009. Paris had said on the Oprah Winfrey Show that she knew that the singer’s intention was to protect them.
It was during Michael’s public commemoration that Paris made her first open appearance. She was 11 years old then and had lovingly spoken about her dad in what was considered an astonishing and especially tearful incident.
While she and her siblings had tried to maintain their privacy over the years, they still attracted media attention. Paris had to fight self-respect issues while in her early teens and had tried to commit suicide three times.
She had revealed to Rolling Stone that only one incident was publicized and that it was a case of self-hatred and self-confidence issues as she feared she could not do anything properly. She also stated that she had then felt like not living anymore.
She overcame her problems with her family’s support and has grown into an optimistic and forthright person online about her opinions over the years. She was also seen more regularly at public events including fashion shows and the recent 2017 Grammys where she stunned viewers who were not her social media followers with two stunning looks.
Ryan Seacrest of E! News told her on the red carpet that she had grown up and that she was ready to start her acting career through Fox’s new series Star later that year. However, Paris said that she presently had no thoughts of following her dad’s footprints in music.
Paris had revealed in a recent Carine Roitfield’s CR Fashion Book Issue 10 interview where she’s on the cover, that she wrote music for herself as a vent to get things out and was not something she saw herself pursuing as a career. She also said that there were so many wonderful artists in the family and that her pursuing music as a career would change her attitude towards music, which she did not like.
