"When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth."

When Myron Bolitar's long lost girlfriend Terese Collins calls at five am and asks him to come to Paris, at first he waivers. After all he has not heard from her since their affair ended years ago. They came together at a time when both were suffering horrible losses. Terese, who had been in Angola for the past seven years, was called to Paris by her ex-husband, an investigative reporter, for news that "will change her life."  When Myron arrives, Rick Collins is found murdered and they are indeed presented with a shocking finding.

Myron is taken to 36 Quai des Orfevres, the French equivalent of Scotland Yard, where he is interrogated by Inspector Berleand who thinks that Myron is implicated in the murder and also part of a terrorist cabal. After his release, Myron's best friend Win Lockwood arrives and they fly to London to meet with Karen Tower, Rick's wife and Terese's friend. Soon after, more tragic events occur.

While investigating, Myron is kidnapped by Homeland Security and subjected to waterboarding torture after which he is returned to an American hospital only to continue the search for the long lost secrets.

Long Lost takes the Myron Bolitar series to a new level combining all the great characters from past books in an international thriller. Harlan Coben provides just enough of the back story so that new readers are not left adrift. Myron won two NCAA Championships as team captain for Duke University, then was a first round draft pick of the Boston Celtics. After a career ending knee injury, Myron went to Harvard Law School and became a sports agent teaming with his Duke roommate Win Lockwood III, a preppy millionaire from Philadelphia's Main Line.

Win's expertise in martial arts has saved the pair from numerous tight predicaments in the past and once again is central to the story of Long Lost. Add in the attractive Esperanza Diaz, former world champion professional wrestler who subsequently went to law school at night and is the third partner of their agency.

Long Lost is a must read for Myron Bolitar fans and for anyone who enjoys a page-turning international thriller.
