Double Lack-of-Trust Whammy Brings out the Best in Johnny Depp

If discovering that your long-time business managers and lawyers have been stealing you blind is not enough, Depp’s 15-month long marriage came to an end on the same day. But this Friday 13th double announcement may be the beginning of better days for Depp.

The Mandel Group has been charged with breach of fiduciary duty, mismanagement of millions of dollars, fraud and wrongful foreclosure. The amount of damage is $25 million. The 17-year courtship is bad news for one of the most trusted management companies in the entertainment industry. In defense, TMG responded that they have done nothing but try and protect Depp from his irresponsible nature with spending.

May 2016 appeared to be the worst month ever for Depp when he lost his mother and best friend, Betty Sue Palmer, after a long illness. Many also saw the signs of a crumbling marriage and Johnny’s latest movie, “Alice Through the Looking Glass” did not turn out the expected crowds. In fact, it was rated as a flop.

In a heart-felt surprise appearance at the People’s Choice Awards, Depp appeared deeply touched as he accepted the trophy for Favorite Movie Icon.

“I came here for one reason tonight … for you, the people, who through whatever good times or bad have stood by me and trusted me,” he said.

Perhaps the 53-year-old has come to terms with the lack of trust that Hollywood has bestowed upon him and is finally on the road to responsibility and gratitude. To a great 2017 and future Friday the 13ths, Johnny.
