When it comes to Hollywood relationship clichés, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have definitely broken the mold. Although never married, the two have been together for 35 years and counting. They recently celebrated their union with the help of the Hollywood community by being honored with stars right next to each other on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at the same time.
Their daughter Kate Hudson, from Goldie’s previous marriage, made a speech about how wonderful parents they were, saying that they have been an inspiration to the entire family.
Their connection is obvious, even after all these years. They always seem t be having fun with each other. Their chemistry is even apparent on screen, like in the classic 1980’s movie, Overboard.
Goldie also spoke at the event, talking about how much Kurt had changed her life. She acknowledged that even though this wasn’t her first marriage, this was the life she was meant for. She was beyond thankful to have Kurt as a partner to spend her life with.
Kurt took the podium next and was full of emotion during his heartfelt speech. Goldie to you, I owe my wonderful life … All of the stars in the sky or on the boulevard don’t hold a candle to that … So if I am to be honored with this sweet token of memorabilia that is to be sunk forever in the cement of a street whereupon I will be subjected to the constant harshness of the blazing California sun, blowing winds and pouring rains and stray dogs … and trod upon by the soles of shoes caked with earth from all corners of the globe, there’s no one else I’d rather be next to for all of that than Goldie Hawn.”
The event was studded with stars like Quentin Tarantino and Reese Witherspoon who also gave an emotional speech. “She changed the possibilities of what women can do in film. Thank you for making us laugh, she has lit up my life. She’s changed my life and she’s quite simply my idol. I love you, Goldie.”
The fact that these two have weathered the tempestuous Hollywood storm is a true test to their characters and a testament to their devotion to each other.
