Hide Chrissy Teigen on Her Stretch Marks: “I Like the Pattern and They’re So Soft”

The following is why Chrissy Teigen is added to our list of best friends.

After a few glasses of wine on a Wednesday night, Chrissy went on Twitter and reacted to her stretch marks the way many women do.

“Whatevs,” she posted, with a photo of her thigh.

It was a perception of stretch marks that many mothers have, though these marks are proof that they are already fulfilled women.

“When I drink wine, I say ‘whatevs’ and sober Chrissy doesn’t like it,” the Lip Sync Battle host added. The following morning, Chrissy went back on Twitter to clarify that she doesn’t need you to love her stretch marks, though she truly does.

“I do not post stretchies for the praise… I post it because of the wine. Also, I like the pattern and they’re so soft,” she explained.

Regardless of her intention in posting her stretch marks, Chrissy’s less tense approach to them has been inspiring many women to love their own bodies. It is true that stretch marks are considered unsightly by the beauty industry, but they are part and proof of a woman’s delicate and strong nature.

The former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl shared her first stretch mark photos taken in April 2015. She said that she was tired of always looking airbrushed.

“I have those apps, the Facetune and Photoshopping ones, and I just didn’t feel like doing it anymore—I’m never doing it again, because I think we forgot what normal people look like now,” Chrissy said when she appeared on The Meredith Vieira Show.

The following summer, Chrissy paid homage to her marks once more on Snapchat—a few months after she gave birth to her daughter, Luna Simone Stephens. The confident and candid TV personality has proven to be a body champion to many mothers. Her approach to losing pregnancy weight has also been comforting and refreshing to ordinary moms.

“You just realize you have to give yourself time and understand that you push out a baby and it took this long to put on the weight and it’ not going to peel right off, and that’s OK… You shouldn’t have to rush to shed everything. It’s OK. It’s fine. Enjoy your baby. Don’t go crazy,” Chrissy told E! News in July of 2016.
