John Mellencamp Says His Ex-Girlfriend Meg Ryan Hates Him with a Passion

John Mellencampare and Meg Ryan have called it quits after dating more than five years, and the relationship didn’t end on a good note.

The two dated from 2011 to August of 2014. They broke up for two months, but got back together. Unfortunately, they broke up again in 2015, which became a permanent break. On Wednesday, Mellencamp admitted during an interview on The Howard Stern Show that he and Ryan are no longer in touch with one another.

Per Mellencamp, “Oh, women hate me. I loved Meg Ryan. She hates me to death.”

Considering that they were together for a long time, this seems like a strange thing for John to admit. The “Jack and Diane” singer talked about mistakes that were made in the relationship. He says that he attempted to smooth things over with Ryan, but she didn’t want to resume the relationship.

Per Mellencamp, “She just doesn’t want anything to do with me, and I don’t blame her.” He admitted that his relationships fail because of his immaturity. He says that most women hate him because is a moody person who likes to throw fits, complain and behave like a child.

Later in the interview, he expressed that its only during the relationship that women hate him. He claims that he has good relationships with all of his exes, such as his ex-wife Elaine Irwin. He was married to her for 20 years. He has also remained on good terms with his ex, Christie Brinkley. They dated after his relationship with Meg Ryan ended.

Per Mellencamp, he and Meg Ryan broke up because of distance. The two of them live in separate cities, which took a toll on the relationship. She lives in New York, and he lives in Indiana.

Also in the interview, Mellencamp called Meg an angel that was sent to him at just the right time in his life. They attempted to maintain a long-distance relationship for three years.

Mellencamp says that he will never live in Manhattan because of his emotional sensitivity. He doesn’t want to see the pain and suffering of poor people. Mellencamp said that he won’t ever live anywhere else but Indiana, and he plans on dying there too.
