Lady Gaga has always been mum about the reason she split with her fiancé at the time, Taylor Kinney. But thanks to her new documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two, all the juicy details get revealed.
The documentary premiered at the Toronto Film Festival on Friday and comes out on Netflix on September 22nd. The first scene opens up on Lady Gaga talking about her now-ex. “Me and Taylor are fighting, so that sucks,” she says, according to People. “My threshold for bullshit with men is just—I don’t have one anymore. In relationships, you have to move together.” She then talks about writing her new song, “Million Reasons,” which is about struggling with a relationship and whether to end things or not.
Later in the documentary, Gaga discloses that she ended the engagement with Taylor. “My love life has just imploded,” she says. “I sold 10 million [records] and lost Matt. I sold 30 million and lost Luke. I did a movie and lose Taylor. It’s like a turnover. This is the third time I’ve had my heart broken like this.” Gaga and Taylor broke up after she landed a leading role in A Star Is Born, opposite Bradley Cooper.
Even though things were difficult, Gaga and Taylor have managed to remain friends. She even received flowers from him on the day of her halftime performance at this year’s Super Bowl. “Nothing like flowers from your ex-fiancé on the day of the Super Bowl,” she joked in the documentary. He was also in the stands cheering her on. The singer has said that they still love and respect each other.
The story does end on a happy note, however. Gaga has a new love interest, her talent agent, Christian Carino. Here’s wishing all the best to the new couple.
