Valentine Murder by Leslie Meier
(Kensington, $20.00, V) ISBN 1-57566-390-2
****
As any librarian knows, the worst thing that can happen to you, is to be killed in the library. That is the premise of the new Lucy Stone mystery Valentine Murder. The new librarian is preparing for storytime in the new children's room (while also preparing for a board of directors meeting) when the dastardly deed is done. Of course, the body is discovered by Lucy Stone, the newest board member. The problem is, that it had to be one of the members of the board "whodunit."

Lucy is up to the task of snooping around for the murderer. Things get a little scary, however, when her children are almost run over when sledding. And when her car catches on fire with her toddler inside, that is too much!

Lucy solves the crime, but not before other tragedies occur. The catchy homebody activities of a regular family make these Lucy Stone mysteries irresistible to the "cozy" mystery fan. This is one of the better mysteries by Leslie Meier. Her character is so well drawn as a real busybody, but only when it comes to murder! The story is well-crafted and the characters are all believable and very likable. This is put out in the "Partners in Crime" smaller size hardback format.

It is an appetizing read that will delight Meier's fans.
