The law enforcement in Washington State says that the police in Auburn are devoted to solving this case and that the alleged victim’s noncooperation isn’t going to stand in their way. They’re gathering evidence and still plan to present this case to the prosecutor’s office.
TMZ broke this story a while back. The reason the alleged victim refuses to testify is that she says she couldn’t take the pressure of taking on a celebrity and felt betrayed by the police.
Her noncooperation does not make this case impossible to prosecute, but it does pose more challenges to law enforcement.
A source close to the case says the Auburn police want to present the case to the prosecutors as soon as possible- within the next week.
According to Nelly’s attorney, Scott Rosenblum, he’s confident the case will be closed based on the lack of evidence. “I would expect the police to do their due diligence.”
Nelly’s girlfriend, Shantel Jackson is sticking by her man’s side and even posted this photo to prove it, 3 days after the allegations were revealed.
The decision to charge Nelly ultimately lies with the prosecutors. Although it may seem like things are looking up for Nelly, the decision has not been made, and he’s not off the hook just yet.
