The Jupiter Police Department released more photos Wednesday afternoon of the Tiger Woods arrest.
Woods, 41 was found by the Jupiter police, asleep on the wheel, at 2 a.m., behind the wheel of his damaged 2015 black Mercedez-Benz in Jupiter, Florida.
Jupiter Police were on patrol early Monday when they noticed a Mercedes, pulled ineptly to the side of the road. The car’s engine was still running, the brake lights were on and a right turn signal was blinking. The car sustained 2 flat tires and damage to the driver’s side.
Inside the vehicle, Woods was found asleep at the wheel. According to the incident reports filed by police, Woods was slurring his words and apparently didn’t know where he was. He failed his roadside sobriety test and couldn’t tie his shoes. He also had a cocktail of prescription drugs in his system.
Wood’s breathalyzer did read a .000, however, proving that he was not under the influence of any alcohol when the police picked him up. He was stopped in the right lane on Military Trail south of Indian Creek Parkway.
The 14-time major champion later released a statement apologizing for the incident saying, “I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved, what happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.” He said he was going to do everything he can in his power to make sue this doesn’t happen again.
Woods, who had back surgery five weeks ago, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to Palm Beach County Jail. He was later released on his own recognizance.
Woods arraignment hearing is scheduled on July 5 in Palm Beach County court on the DUI charge.
