Ryan Phillippe has broken his silence about the domestic violence allegations made against him by his ex-girlfriend, 21-year-old model, Elsie Hewitt.
“As a staunch advocate for the health, well-being, and equality of women, Ryan is completely devastated that these false allegations have been made and circulated,” the actor’s rep said in a statement obtained by The Blast. “Domestic violence is an incredibly serious issue and fabricated and proven false claims should not be used to unjustly slander the falsely accused. The claims are false.”
Hewitt claims that Phillipe, 43 physically abused her on July 4th of this year. She alleges the actor kicked, punched, and threw her down the stairs after an argument that occurred in his home.
The model filed a civil lawsuit on Monday. In the court documents obtained by People, Hewitt claims that she had an argument with Phillipe. She further alleges that she and a friend went to Phillipe’s house early on July 4th to pack up her things, and that’s when the physical altercation occurred.
In the court documents, Hewitt claims that she saw Phillipe “repeatedly abusing a panoply of legal and illegal drugs, including without limitation: cocaine, ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and steroids… ”
She maintains that Phillippe “increasingly combined these drugs with excessive alcohol consumption and often exhibited symptoms attendant of polydrug and alcohol abuse, including mood swings and bouts of anger.”
But a source close to the Cruel Intentions actor says it was actually Hewitt who was under the influence of that day. “Ryan did not lay a hand on her- he wants to clear all of this up and he will.
“Elsie showed up to Ryan’s house uninvited and under the influence a few days after he had broken up with her,” the source told PEOPLE on Monday. “She physically attacked Ryan, caused a scene and refused to leave his home. As she was removed from the premises, she claims she fell and injured herself.”
Hewitt’s lawyer, Keith Fink told People that his client wants to take a stand against domestic violence and denies any implications that she had filed the suit for money and fame.
Hewitt supplied the court with photographs of the injuries she allegedly obtained from the incident. She claims she suffered chest wall pain, abrasions, and severe bruising. She is asking for $1 million as retribution.
