Simone Biles Joins Dancing with the Stars without Hesitation
Olympic gymnast Simone Biles was barely done with her run at the Rio Games when the call of dancing came. She still had to watch Laurie Hernandez, her teammate, take home Season 23’s mirror ball trophy, when Dancing with the Stars called her. She did not think twice when the opportunity came for her to guest in Season 23 of the popular dance show.
For years, Dancing with the Stars has been inviting celebrities to dance. It doesn’t matter what genre it is. Fans love to see what their favorite stars wear and how they move on screen. It is rare to see certain celebrities dance, after all.
“Getting the call, I don’t think you hesitate. I didn’t. I was like, ‘I want to do it!’” Simone told E! News when the cast was unveiled on Good Morning America, Wednesday.
Season 24’s declared lineup of stars makes Simone the third member of Dancing with the Stars’ Final Five. She follows Laurie and Aly Raisman, who received fourth place during the 16th Season. Simone admitted that she had not consulted any of her teammates yet despite the knowledge they have about the competition.
“Not yet because it was all a secret today, so I didn’t tell, really, anyone. So, I’ll contact them after this,” she explained.
Both Nastia Lukin and Shawn Johnson competed in DWTS. Sasha Farber was not shy about his excitement toward his nineteen-year-old dance partner, Simone, aware that gymnasts hold an advantage in the show.
“We haven’t started yet, but I’m super, super excited to work with Simone. I watched her in the Olympics and she was a role model straight away. A true inspiration. I’m just honored and excited to be dancing with her,” Shawn told us. Having a gymnast for a partner can be intimidating, but it is comforting at the same time, knowing Simone would be able to perform complicated moves for both.
