Judd appeared as a backup dancer in Lopez’s 2001 music video “Love Don’t Cost a Thing.” He once told Oprah Winfrey that he knew he was going to marry J.Lo the moment he shook her hand on set. They said “I do” in September 2001 but split nine months later.

Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart

Lopez has a type! The “Ain’t Your Mama” singer started dating Smart, 18 years her junior, when he was a backup dancer on her tour in 2011. (She and ex-husband Marc Anthony had split just a few months earlier.) The two dated off and on for several years until August 2016.

Christina Aguilera and Jorge Santos

Aguilera fell for Santos when she was first starting her career in 1999. They dated for more than two years before breaking up in 2001. After the split, she told USA Today of their relationship, “He had been one of my dancers and it was my first love and his.”

Madonna and Brahim Zaibat

The queen of pop and Zaibat, 30 years her junior, started dating in 2010 after he performed at the launch of her daughter Lourdes’ Macy’s clothing line. They split after three years, during which time he worked as a backup dancer on Madge’s MDNA world tour.

Mariah Carey and Bryan Tanaka

Carey sought comfort with Tanaka, a backup dancer on her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour, after her bitter split from fiancé James Packer. Though the two first met in 2005, their friendship didn’t turn romantic until November 2016. “I’ve always had a thing for Mariah. I love her so much,” he told E! at the December premiere of Mariah’s World, which shows the evolution of their flirtation.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline

Federline, a.k.a. K-Fed, wasn’t a backup dancer for Spears, but he did appear in her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s music video for “Like I Love You” in 2002. He also performed with LFO when the group toured with the “Baby One More Time” singer in 2000. He and Spears crossed paths again at a club a few years later and said “I do” after a few months in September 2004. They had two kids before splitting in 2006.

Ariana Grande and Ricky Alvarez

Alvarez performed alongside the “Dangerous Woman” singer on her Honeymoon tour in 2015. They were first linked romantically in July of that year, when she was seen kissing him in footage from the now-infamous #Donutgate incident. Though she gushed in May 2016 that they were “happy,” they split just a few months later.

LeAnn Rimes and Dean Sheremet

Sheremet and Rimes hit it off when he was chosen to be one of her backup dancers at the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards. They were married for seven years until their split in 2009, when Us Weekly revealed that she was cheating on him with her Northern Lights costar Eddie Cibrian, who was married to Brandi Glanville at the time.

Mel B and Jimmy Gulzar

The Spice Girls singer met Gulzar on the girl group’s Spiceworld Tour in 1998. They married in September of that year and welcomed a daughter in February 1999, only to split less than a year later in January 2000.

Ashley Tisdale and Jared Murillo

Murillo, a member of the boy band V Factory, appeared as a dancer in Disney’s High School Musical movies, which of course featured Tisdale in her breakout role of Sharpay Evans. They split in 2009 after two years.
