After her divorce from local green grass king Wayne Jones, Tally decided to stay in Dalliance, Texas, and revive the local ice cream parlor which she has renamed Remember the A-la-Mode.  Tally has some great ideas and some creative flavors and is saving on payroll by having her sister Bree and niece Alice working for her. However, money is still melting away from the business faster than Tally can scoop cones.

Which is why Tally finds herself making a deal with the devil, in her opinion, as she signs a contract to provide ice cream for Wayne’s company’s picnic. Wayne’s Weed and See throws a big picnic every year and this could be Tally’s big chance to get some much needed publicity and legitimacy in the town. Even if it means going along with the whims and demands of Wayne’s new friend Brittanie, even if it means grass green sauce for Tally’s ice cream.

With pointers from a local caterer, all is going well until the next day when Wayne finds Brittanie dead. Autopsy results point to poisoning, and when the poison is narrowed down to anti-freeze, almost the same color green as Tally’s tropical sauce, Tally goes from being the town’s scooper to being the town snooper.

Tally soon begins to wonder if Brittanie was the intended target, especially since Tally would not have expected Brittanie to eat the ice cream.  Looking at the possibility of another intended victim, such as Wayne, puts things in a whole new light.  Unfortunately for Tally, she would also be the prime suspect in Wayne’s death and must continue to dig around in a small town secrets to uncover a murderer.

I Scream, You Scream, is a fine start in what promises to be a fun series with a likable heroine, good supporting cast and charming small town.  Tally has licked her wounds from the divorce, hitched herself up and moved on from Wayne, but is not quite sure if she has moved on from high school sweetheart bad boy Finn who has returned to Dalliance to care for his ailing mother, and possibly pick up where he left things off with Tally.

Tally is determined to make a place for herself in Dalliance, not as Wayne’s wife, but as a businesswoman and is off to a good start.  There are plenty of questions with Brittanie’s death, including whether or not she was the intended victim, to keep readers reader and guessing along with Tally. Every small town has its secrets and Dalliance is no exception, but as Tally learns, some are worth killing for, others worth dying for.
